Arizona Restaurant Week starts this Saturday (the 18th) and Beckett’s Table is one of the participating restaurants this year. Restaurant News: Spring Menus Are Here!

Shine Coffee is adding a living room space (AND affogatto to their menu– just in time for summer)!! Affogato (Italian for “drowned”) is a coffee-based beverage or dessert. It usually takes the form of a scoop of vanilla gelato in a cup with a freshly pulled shot of espresso poured over the top. This is Shine’s answer to triple digits. The fun starts Friday at Shine Vernon.

The Heard Museum Courtyard Cafe‘s spring menu is out! They offer a great selection for artisan sandwiches and southwest specialties like posole and chichen mole. FOODISTS: “A collective of like-minded food worshipers. A Foodist breathes and sleeps in order to eat and drink. They are bona fide food fans – those who immerse themselves in the artistry of the food industry.” CONGRATS to many of our members who made the ARA Foodist Awards! Barrio Cafe, Beckett’s Table, Short Leash Hot Dogs, Postino, and St. Francis were all recognized by the Arizona Restaurant Association as game changers, the pioneers – the culinary standard-bearers.

Beckett’s Table’s “Social Hour” is in full swing every Tuesday to Sunday, from 5 pm to 6:30 pm. Enjoy $6 apps, $5 select wines, $6 select house cocktails, $3 draught beers…. The only day it doesn’t happen is on Monday– they are closed that day!

Upcoming wine tastings at Cheuvront. Santa Barbara wines will be featured on Saturday 4/6 at 4pm and Italian wines will be featured on Tuesday 4/9 at 6pm. The cost to attend either tasting is $15 per person. Reservations are required.

Weekday lunch menu and fresh brewed organic iced tea are in the works at Vovomeena… very soon! We’ll keep you posted when the new menu is available.

Exciting news! Short Leash Hot Dogs is getting a new, permanent location at 110 E. Roosevelt St. in early to mid June. Owners Brad and Kat Moore say their sit down restaurant will serve their normal menu items plus some of the specials featured at Sit…Stay. Read more here.

Gallo Blanco‘s Doug Robson has just opened a new restaurant called Otro. Phoenix New Times reports that the menu at Otro will complement Gallo Blanco’s traditional Mexican dishes that use seasonal and locally sourced ingredients, but it won’t be an exact copy.

The team behind Beckett’s Table will be opening a new concept in the old Beef Eaters site. While it’s “too early to commit to a concept,” we do know that it won’t be another branch of Beckett’s Table. We’ll keep you posted on the new restaurant’s progress. Read more here.

Front of house generally refers to any of the following positions: servers, server assistants, hosts, bartenders, bar assistants, cocktail servers. etc. Back of house generally refers to any of the following positions: Prep cook, line cooks, dish washer, expediters, etc.

Things We Love

Feast on the Street brings our community and friends together around a half-mile long dining table in downtown Phoenix, transforming First Street into a pedestrian promenade in celebration of food and art in the desert.
