Celebrate Devour Week With The Annual ‘Seven Chefs Dinner’ At The Gladly On February 17 Showcasing Arizona’s Top Culinary Talent

Phoenix, Arizona (January 2, 2019) – Held as part of Devour Week and the 10th annual Devour Culinary Classic, the Seven Chefs Dinner returns this February 17, 2019 with an all-new location and a spectacular lineup of top local chefs serving up the authentic flavors of Arizona. Hosted at The Gladly in Phoenix on Sunday, February 17 from 4 – 7 pm, The Seven Chefs is a ever-growing collective of top local chefs, and friends, who first cooked together at the prestigious James Beard House in New York City, and now get together annually to promote the Arizona cooking scene, and help ‘bring Beard back to AZ. (Considered the ‘Oscars of the culinary world, no Arizona chef has won the James Beard “Best Chef: Southwest” Award since 2007.

Hosted by Bernie Kantak, chef/co-owner of The Gladly and Citizen Public House, the 2019 Seven Chefs Dinner event will feature seven local chefs teaming up for a multi-course dinner. The talent includes:

·       Justin Beckett (Beckett's Table & Southern Rail)

·       Jacob Cutino (Cutino Sauce Company)

·       Scott Holmes (Little Miss BBQ)

·       Stephen Jones (The Larder + The Delta)

·       Bernie Kantak (The Gladly & Citizen Public House)

·       Doug Robson (Gallo Blanco & Otro Café)

·       Country Velador (Super Chunk & New Wave Market)

A full menu will be available closer to the event date. Tickets to the dinner are $175 and includes a multi-course meal with libations, tax, and gratuity.

2019 Devour Culinary Classic

The 2019 Devour Culinary Classic promises to present the very best that Arizona’s culinary scene has to offer with even more opportunities to connect with Arizona’s local culinary culture. One hundred percent of all proceeds from the annual Devour Culinary Classic benefit the community efforts of Local First Arizona, Desert Botanical Garden, and Arizona Business Committee for the Arts (AZBCA).

Additional Devour Week Events

As in years past, the Devour Culinary Classic will host a series of pre-events ahead of the main event to extend the culinary celebration all week long. Event details subject to change, and other events may be added at a later date.

  • Devour Phoenix Bartending Competition: Sunday February 17, Portland Parkway Park (between Fez & The Foundre on West Portland Street), 3:00 - 6:00 p.m., $40 – Kick off Devour Week and celebrate the best of local cocktail culture at the Devour Phoenix Bartending Competition. Attendees can root for their favorite bartenders from the Devour Phoenix Coalition of restaurants as they sip on their competition creations. Facing a celebrity lineup of judges and armed with a selection of Arizona’s best locally distilled spirits, local bartenders will be up on stage shaking it up to take the title as Arizona's Star Bartender.

  • Devour The World: Thursday, February 21, 2019, 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m., Japanese Friendship Garden (1125 North 3rd Avenue, Phoenix, AZ, 85003), $75 – East meets west, north, and south returns at the 2nd annual Devour the World event that celebrates the international flavors of Phoenix. Unwind in the serene Japanese Friendship Garden as you taste the multicultural cuisines from the regions of your favorite countries. Tickets are $75 and include libation and food sampling from up to 20 regional restaurants and chefs. Presented by Phoenix Magazine, Arizona Business Committee for the Arts, and Local First Arizona.
